Havent patterened the 1oz 16's but they seem to work fine on clays. Did run them through my Caldwell graph and was getting just a little faster than advertised at 1185fps. Have dropped a couple roosters this year with the 16ga 1 1/8 oz of 5's phez load. They seemed just as dead as with the Fed 1 1/8 oz . Ordered one box of the 12 ga phez load of 1 1/4oz of 5's at 1220 fps. Will be interested to see if they pattern/kill as well as the old Win, Rem etc of that ilk.

I also used Herters 12 ga 1-1/4 ounce 1220 fps #5 loads last year. They were adequate for pheasant. I use the 1220 loads in older shotguns like my 1925 Francotte, and a 1914 Fox because they are a bit easier on the gun. Most pheasant I kill even in November are within 30 yards. This year I shot 24 with 16 and 20 ga guns and there were only two at long range...40 yards...they died.

I shot two pheasants yesterday with the 12 ga load. First was crossing shot at maybe 10 yds and unfortunately had to throw the whole bird. Second was a crossing again but maybe 40 yds. One shot dead. IC choke in my Franchi 12ga semi. No qualms in recommending either the 12 ga or 16ga pheasant loads
