I bought 20 boxes of the 1 1/8 #5s and 20 boxes of the 7 1/2s. I don't know why but I did. Caught up in the moment I guess. I really should just get back to reloading but time always ends up being a factor.

Does anyone know what quality shot is used in these loads? Are they soft shot? How do they pattern compared with other 1-1/8 ounce 5 loads?

Little creek, I don't have specific answers to your questions, but I'm assuming the shot size is European like the dove/quail loads so maybe 5 1/2's? I can say they work just as well on phez as the Federal and Remington 1 1/8 oz out of my new Sweet 16 with IC choke. Maybe someone else has more specific answers for you.

Savage 16 If you are using an IC choke I assume you are shooting to about 30 yards. I think the real test of shot loads comes when you push out near 40 yards (with more choke). I plan to pattern the Herters when the weather permits. I'll shoot it in the gun I will take pheasant hunting this fall. It is bored .008 (IC) and .021 (light Full) so I'll pattern the right barrel at 30 yards and the left at 40.

That's too good a deal to pass up, so I got a case. Hope those make a good long range chukar load.
