Really cool. Weird that they needed a 3" hull for an ounce of shot. |

yeah Mike - some cool stuff ! That 30'' M97 grabs the eye .... people used to grouse when that ammo was 2.79 a box .... My only reason for keeping the 16 870 I have is that one of these days it'll become a 3'' chamber - easiest gun to modify !! ( another great project , eh Putzie !) |

I wonder why they were labeled as paper shells at a time when there were no other kind except maybe brass. |

Winchester made 2 i think 3" 16 gauge that was a plan to market. Just before that the 3" puny 20 ga. was introduced and killed the idea of marketing the 3" 16.
I teally believe if Winchester went ahead they could have put the highly overrated 20 down. Just saying. |

I have read that the longer hull allowed more card wads that improved the patterns significantly . It helped the ounce load with a better gas seal. Adding more shot had proven pointless, as we all know today. |

The real "wild and crazy" there is the price on those listings. The only bid on the whole page is for those 3" shells. |
