I know I could look this up on Wikipedia, but I'm also sure the guys with the answer or right here and it's not that often I have a solid 16 gauge gun question! So I have a buddy who has a Savage 755 I believe is the number he told me. He says it's an Auto 5 copy in any case, and is a fixed full choke. I told him I thought those were made around World War II or just slightly after but wanted to get info from the experts. We're developing some higher density or bismuth loads together for the upcoming duck season, and knowing when his gun was made would probably be useful. Thanks so much |

That article is off by a few years. The John M. Browning design Savage Model 720 (5 shot) and Model 726 (3 shot) "Upland Sporter" in 12- and 16-gauge hadn't yet appeared in any Savage paper through 1931. I don't have any Savage paper from 1932, but they are in the 1932 Stoeger catalog and in the March 15, 1933, Savage Wholesale Price List. |
