It's been a little over 4 years since our beloved founder Doug passed away - I can't believe its actually been that long. It gives me great satisfaction to maintain this site in his honor. He was a great friend and mentor.

While I was able to take over the site and domain from Doug's family, I also inherited the associated costs and have been paying for the hosting out of pocket and donating technical support for the last few years.
A few long-standing members have suggested that I set up a donation page to help cover those costs - so that is the purpose of this post.

The hosting runs about $25/mo. - and while I realize this isn't the "cheapest" hosting we can find, we've had the site hosted with the same company since 2004, and it has served us well over the last 15 years.

Yes, that's right, we loaded up the forum for the first time on June 2nd, 2004 - 15 years ago!

Funds received beyond the hosting fees will help me allocate more time to the site, keeping things secure, registering new users more quickly, etc.

Doug and I discussed early on whether we wanted to host advertisements on the site - and we generally agreed to avoid doing that if we could - so I have tried to honor that instinct, and I think its nice to not have that distraction.

If anyone has a mind to help I would very much appreciate anything you care to contribute.

And a big thank you to everyone for making the 16ga site what feels like one of the last civil communities on the internet!

Thanks,

Smith L.

@Chukar60 - do you use other online payment services? Credit card or some other system? If not maybe via check?

Thanks for your stewardship and now giving members a chance to have a dog in the fight, IMO, long overdue, I'm not fan of free stuff, especially stuff so valuable. MORE SO, thanks for not allowing advertising and the like! Popup's like those on GB are nauseating, many thanks for keeping this clean.

Can short term proceeds of this member funding be used to rekindle the storefront and "profits" from the merchandise be reinvested in the site? OR is managing inventory too much of a chore? Yes, a chore... is a valid answer here.
