Fiocchi hull reloaders be advised, I have recently found raised base wads in several once-fired Fiocchi 16ga hulls. Whether it was caused by firing or my re-priming with Cheddite primers is not clear. The base wads were re-seated with the MEC 600 priming station and reloaded, but in the future I will likely discard those.
I have never seen this with any other hull types, only with Fiocchi.

A lot the cheaper off brand European shells like Dianas and Kemens are subject to base wad separation and cracking. I usually wind up pitching them if I get them from the range. |
