Gentlemen:

Rather than cut trees tonight from the ice storm (lost two yard trees Mad ) or grade papers, I am sorting shells for the great revdocdrew/dr16ga Russell KS trip in 2 weeks and have the following questions (related to pressures and suitability for an old LC with 2.75 inch chambers).

The good revdocdrew has indicated to me that Federal Field Loads have a pressure around 8000 and would be suitable for Ms. Elsie. I have a number of boxes of these in the stockpile in 6s and they will work for roosters. However, I have some other Federal 1 1/8 oz Shells that I'd like to use for a second shot at roosters or some 7.5s for quail in Ms. Elsie.

My questions - any ideas as to what pressures and are these suitable for a Ms. Elsie (with her forcing cones lengthened)?

Federal HEAVY Field Load 1 1/8 oz 7.5s 2.75 dram eq

Federal CLASSIC Field Load 1 1/8 oz 7.5s 2.75 dram eq

Federal CLASSIC Field Load 1 1/8 oz 6s 2.75 dram eq

All three of the above loads have hard shot listed on the box.

Federal Duck and Pheasant 6s - dram eq. unknown (got these mixed up in a lot of old shellls when Dad passed away - no boxes)

If not suitable for Ms. Elsie, they will work fine in both sissytoris so no offers needed - just input.... Wink

thanks for the feedback.....

p.s. also found some Remington Peters 2s in the bottom of the locker - WOW Shocked will save these for a turkey hunt some day.....

the Federal Game Shok (formerly Game Load) 1 oz. at 1165 run 8000 psi SO anything heavier or hotter would be pushing it for Ms Elsie (and don't make me call DFS for elder-Elsie abuse Wink )

bc-over here near the Indiana border we got lucky no ice to speak of and about half inch of snow-high winds today though up to 60 mph gusts. As to your question keep those speeds down and you will return home with the gun in one piece.Slower powders will laso help you out too.
