Gentlemen,
Nice 16 gauge gun, well worth the money expended to purchase it.

I've looked at these a few different times. Anyone own one? Doesn't seem to be anything "lightning" about a 7 lbs 3 oz 16 gauge.
I confess though that I am a Beretta man and have had a hard time warming up to a Citori. |

Owned one.
Sold it to support another purchase.
Very nice gun.
They are supposed to have higher end wood.
Some do and some do not.
I’d sure want to see both sides of the butt stock before I purchased. |

Upplander44,
One of my friends has one, I liked the gun, however it's not match for my 1880's J.P. Sauer Grouse gun. O/U guns always tend to weigh a little to much for me to use them in the Grouse woods. Nice for Clays however. Now if that gun was a 28 I might look at it differently.

I have one. Not the lightest but not too heavy either. I don’t mind the 26 inch barrels but my preference is usually shorter than longer. The clincher on mine was the wood; outstanding. I’ve seen some with less that great wood for a V/VI. Mine is not one of them. If Browning has a rebate in effect, all the better. |

I have one with 28" barrels. One of my favorite guns. It has a pretty piece of wood on it. I carry it all over the chukar hills and have not once gone back to the truck because my gun was too heavy. The balance and carry are nice and easy.

Bret,
Got to admit the man I know who hunts with one has the same opinion you do, and carries the gun with no problem thru the Grouse Mountains from Pa to Canada.
Myself I want a Grouse gun to weigh in around 6 Lbs not 7, even with great balance. I also have incredible Special ordered L.C. Smith double guns weighing less than 5 Lbs, that some people have actually said I do not posses, until they are allowed to see and handle the guns them selves. My 16 gauge J.P. Sauer Best guns are also very light. My problems with most O/U guns is not the balance, but the weight I do not want to carry up and down the Pa and WVa mountains, while hunting Grouse & Woodcock.
Having owned a great Citori 28/20 Combo gun, I do like Browning guns very much, especially for shooting Clays.

I actually shoot a gun with a little bit of weight to it better than a light gun. Most likely because follow through doesn't have to be as deliberate.
Out here the country os more open and snap shooting isn't necessary for most of our hunting. That being said many guys like light guns out here too. I don't hate a light gun. |

Bret,
I do have some heavier guns also, my 12 gauge L.C. Smith Pigeon Grade double gun weighs around 7 Lbs and I love it. However I want my 16 gauge double guns to weigh about 6 Lbs, not 7 or over. Now if I am just shooting clays or Pigeons with the gun, that weight is acceptable, even preferred. Some heavier guns I would like to acquire also.
I am not putting down the Browing in any way, have owned and will continue to own them. I am a traditional Grouse hunter who likes SXS quality double guns in the Grouse woods. I line shoot with my O/U heavier guns all the time. My favorite is my 28 gauge, love shooting clays with it.

Deluxe Grade L.C. Smith - Nice clays gun also.
Deluxe Grade L.C. Smith - Very nice Clays gun.

I've got one -- with 28-inch barrels. My 16 gauge Gran Lighting is my atonement for a youthful mistake, which was selling a 20 gauge Gran Lightning.
A 16 gauge O/U on a properly scaled 16 gauge frame -- as is the Gran Lightning -- is a wonderful thing and not at all easy to find, especially at a somewhat reasonable price.
I find the 12 O/U Citoris to be a bit too big, heavy and cumbersome for my liking but the 16 and 20 gauges are really nice. |

Sporting Days,
Grand Lightening in 16 or 28 with the scale frame would be a serious gun to own, no doubt about it.
