The time of $5-6/box “purple target eaters” from Herters is done. Fun while it lasted! Living on the empties! |

As I guessed my order was still old stock, showed up this afternoon (world class shipping times on that one...)...
Old Dove & Quail #8's, not the new box shown in the catalogs.....
Not sure what they are thinking on the pricing at 10.99/box, they may as well have kept them off the market. That's 3$ more a box then just buying regular federals...and only a buck less than their 1 1/8 "high brass" offerings.
Maybe they are in compression formed hulls and full of nickel plated zinc washed bismuth or something else magical.... |

The Pheasant's are $12.99 a box. #5, 1-1/8oz, @1280. 16mm steel base.
.410's are $12.99, both 1/2oz targets #9 (2.5" ) and 11/16 hunting #6 & 7.5 (3").
No great deal, pending on the hulls... Not too bad a price on the .410

I work at Cabelas in the gun library and if my information is right Winchester will be producing shells for Herters this year. Glad to hear that since my 1941 Ithaca 37 did not like them at all. Got quite a sew but my sportsman 48 will digest them. |
