2 9/16. Box is kinda beat up and is labeled #6 and only contains 13 #4’s but, it was free.
If I’m reading the date code correctly it’s from 1936.
Another one for the display shelf.

There are some numbers in ink on one of the box flaps and I googled them. |

I have a box of those too! I didn't realize they were that old. |

The box shows roll crimps but the shells look like folded crimps with the data stickers on the ends (#4 shot). I won't shoot the roll crimped shells, have some that look brand new but got a dud after a couple that boomed okay. I am told the folded crimps are post-WWII and should be fine. |

Is it just my eyes, or are shells and the picture on the box ribbed plastic hulls? If so, I don't think Remington introduced plastic hulls until 1960. |

They are the ribbed paper shells with the paper sticker on top with the shot size, dram equivalent etc... stamped on it which cover and seals the paper crimp. |

That's a new one on me, then. I guess all the paper hulls I've ever seen were smooth. |

When did Remington switch to 2 3/4 in? I have a box that's almost identical but they are 2 3/4in, 1 1/4 4's 3 1/2 dram magnums with RX16C-MAG stamped on the box |

The box and the shells don't match. The shells have a fold crimp covered with the paper sticker. The box shows roll-crimped shells with the overshot card/paper showing the load. You can use the shells and they're probably still good.
Still cool. |
