I apologize for posting about something other than the 16 ga but I know there are some Browning experts on here that may be able to help me.
A local pawn shop has a Citori 20 gauge that appears unfired NIB (if it were a 16 gauge I would already own it) The last 5 of the serial number is NX 763. From the Browning website it appears the NX means it was made in 1993 but of all the 3 digit codes listed, 763 is not one of them.
Does anyone know what the 763 code means and what the value may be? |

Thanks skeettx.
They're asking $1,200. That seems high to me. The prices on Gunbroker are all over the map. Any idea? |

NIB $1200 ? I'd say that's pretty good . What's a new one cost ? $1700 .
28" tubes will command more than 26" tubes . Make an offer but don't be disappointed if the Seller stands firm . |

IMO a Citori in better than average shape anywhere near $1k is good price. Tubes or fixed? It seems the fixed choked Citori's keep the price suppressed a bit but not deal killer by any means.
Work it... |

It's 26" with tubes. Somebody had pawned it and didn't come back for it. It had just became available when I saw it so they wouldn't negotiate. Maybe in a few days....
They also have a 16 ga Ithaca model 37 for $400 but it's a little rough. No bluing left and a some rust. |

Your post reminded me that I have a 1958 Ithaca 37 16 ga I've been meaning to list on GB. 26 inch,IC couple small issues but most finish is left. I'd sell for 400 and shipping. If interested I can text photos to a cell number. Thanks,Carl |

Gentlemen,
I agree with Skeettx, take $900.00 cash and offer it to him. More than likely he will take it, unless he gave more than that, when he took the gun in.

Yes nine benjamins but only if you really think you need one. I'm cooling off on the Citori, including the 16 ga in the cabinet. Myself, I'd wait until a 20ga Beretta S 686 special with fixed chokes appears, maybe the single best O/U ever made, 5 3/4 lbs, exceptional balance and sturdiness, no mechanical fussiness like the Citori. But with Beretta never making a 16 ga 686 we're like abandoned orphans and have to take whatever's offered.

Not making a 16 gauge 686, SAD
Same here for the Remington 3200, BUT I am in the finishing stages of
a barrel set for my 3200.
I took it to the range and shot some with it. but I still have to fit the ejectors and install a front bead.
Soon, and very soon, Yeeee Haww |

Brewester11,
Not quite sure what you mean by the Citori fussiness, my 28/20 Citori combo gun never had one bit of fussiness and thousands of shells were run thru the gun.
Agree with you however about the 20 gauge Beretta S 686, a very high quality O/U for sure. Further we will never know about the quality of a 16 gauge 686 S until Beretta actually makes one, which is doubtful.
Nothing wrong with the 20 gauge Browning Citori, great gun, however I'll take the Hunter Arms L.C. Smith 20 gauge guns over the Browning O/U in the Grouse woods any time.

I've not had any FTFs mentioned here by others but the O/U selector is indecisive, there seem to be a third setting in the middle - JAM. Opening and extraction sometimes depends on how I hold my lips, and the overall balance is too barrel heavy but that's merely my taste. And it's just a few years old with less than a thousand rounds through it. But I am spoiled rotten by SKB actions and Beretta is very similar to them so maybe I'm not being totally fair.

Brewester11,
I agree with you about SST, IMO none of them are very good. That is why all good Grouse guns have DT. Same goes for the balance of O/U guns, good SXS double guns never go out of style in the Grouse woods. Many feel my opinions are unfair also!

My go to shotgun is a sweet 16. When I started making a little $$ I bought a Browning Citori 20 ga. Great gun! It has fixed chokes, Imp/Mod.
Killed a lot of desert quail with that gun.
