There are a couple of 16 gauge reloading data Groups. Yahoo has announced they are removing the "Group" function entirely by December 14th. https://www.cnet.com/news/yahoos-forgotten-site-groups-will-permanently-remove-content-by-years-end/ Yahoo is advising folks to download or remove any content they want to save, as all data it will be inaccessible after Dec 14th. As many of you know, there is a lot of good stuff about wads, primers, test data by Tom Armbrust, etc. Any thoughts here on how to preserve the data from these Yahoo Groups?

I haven't the slightest idea yet how to do this. Is there, for instance, any way we can move that data to this forum site. I know some folks have paid to participate in the Low Pressure Group. I'm guessing that won't be a real sticking point if it comes down to a merge with this forum, as preservation of the information is the first concern. If there is a cost to preserving the data/information, folks on this forum have always donated occasionally for one cause or another. Don't know if that is going to be necessary, of course.

I will get in contact with Oldhunter.

We both have access to the info on Yahoo for the group he started and still maintains.

I will download the files he set up today for safe keeping and figure out where we might want to continue the group.

I am sure Oldhunter has all of his files saved off line also.

Sounds like the right approach - first, download and save everything now and, second, figure out where to put it going forward.

For those who still use Chukarman's old file of 16 gauge handloads, save it to your hard drive. That's about the only thing I've found useful on the Yahoo group.

Update
Just got this email

Dear Group Moderators and Members,

Thank you for your commitment to Yahoo and for helping us define the power of digital communities. Eighteen years ago, we combined the functionality of a site called eGroups.com with a precursor community platform called Yahoo Clubs to launch Yahoo Groups. Since then, you and millions of others have helped prove our hypothesis, by creating and joining more than 10 Million groups.

A lot has changed about the Internet since 2001, including the ways most people now use Yahoo Groups. Today, most Yahoo Groups activity happens in your email inbox, not on the bulletin boards where Yahoo Groups started in the pre-smartphone age. Increasingly, people want content and connections coming directly to them, and this is why we continue to invest in Yahoo Mail -- including the recent launch of a new Yahoo Mail app that is currently the highest-rated email app in the App Store and Google Play.

So, as our users’ habits have evolved, we have begun the process of evolving our approach to help active Yahoo Groups thrive and migrate to our email platform. To help you plan for these changes, below is the schedule of how this transition will happen.

Beginning October 28, 2019:

Users will be able to join a Yahoo Group only through an invite from the Group Moderator or by submitting a request to join a Group, which requires approval by the Group Moderator.
Since we are moving Group communication from posting on message boards to email distribution, uploading and hosting of new content will also be disabled on the Yahoo Groups website.

Beginning December 14, 2019:

All Groups will be made private and any content that was previously uploaded via the website will be removed. We believe privacy is critical and made this decision to better align with our overall principles.
If you would like to keep any of the content you’ve posted or stored in the past within your Yahoo Group, please download it by December 14 by accessing this link.

As these dates get closer, we will send follow-up reminders. More information about the upcoming changes can be found here.

While this evolution of Yahoo Groups is inspired by how we see the platform being used today, we know change can be difficult. Here are a few important facts as we make this transition:

1. Yahoo Groups is not going away - We know that our users are deeply passionate about connecting around shared interests, and we are evolving Groups to better align with how you use it today.

2. New groups can still be formed - Users can continue to connect with others around their common bonds and interests. From animal rescues to sporting and activity groups, civic organizations to local PTAs, members of our Yahoo Groups will remain connected and able to share their activities and interests. All of the content that you have shared previously on the website, can continue to be shared via email.

We know that Yahoo Groups is an important online extension of your real-life group of friends, interests and communities, and we are committed to supporting communities that rely on Yahoo Groups. Thanks for coming along with us this far. We look forward to seeing where the technology -- and you -- take us in the decades to come.

Sincerely,
The Groups Team

The files as saved at 24 hour campfire are not as easy to use as the original spreadsheets. I urge everyone to download the files from the 16 gauge group and save them on your hard drive. They are mostly in Microsoft Office form (Exel) so if you have MS Office you are fine. If, like I, you refuse to buy MS Office and use Open Office (free), open the spreadsheet app in OO and then open your list of downloaded files, which will appear in a smaller window. Drag the chosen file out of that window and drop it into your Open Office spreadsheet. It will work perfectly.

Not arguing, just asking, but what is not as easy to use about them? I don't have the original spreadsheets (dad does, and does my reloading for me). I downloaded the ones from 24HCF, added a Filter to it, and can filter anything by hull, wad, pressure, etc.

For example, I want a Cheddite Hull Blue Dot powder load.

On the hull I can choose Cheddite and it gets rid of all the other hulls. Then on powder choose only Blue dot.

The result is it leaves 2 loads showing for Cheddite hulls with Blue Dot powder.

You can filter based on any component, speed, pressure etc to match what you're trying to accomplish.

Is anybody aware of the other group on yahoo being moved elsewhere? I've downloaded what I wanted from both groups, but the only one I'm aware of being moved is the one mentioned here which is what I think is the older group.

I down loaded all of the spreadsheets on a Kindle several years ago. It can be kind of cumbersome to use but the info is there. Nice that it's now on the 24 HR site since I frequent that forum as well. Thanks for the updates and information.

Mainly just posting to make it easier to find this again. Wish I'd made an excel copy.

It would be real darn nice if I could go there without a bunch of horse crap popups blocking the page. Damn online viruses. Same B.S. was happening at Gunbroker one day last weekend. I registered an account so we'll see...
