Yesterday was a fantastic chukar day. Took my 6.4lb Lefever 12 out for its first chukar hunt. Hard to miss with this gun, using 1oz RST copper 6's. Basically like shooting a 16. Will take my Lefever thumb push 16 on my next outing. My friend's pointer had eleven finds, and my 10 year old setter got in on the action too. What a fantastic, memorable day. These are the days that keep you going the rest of the year!

I had a pretty good day today too, especially considering how severe weather devastated most of Wyoming's chukar and hun areas this year. Best of all? I was hunting the exact hillside I learned to hunt on 31 years ago, 3 miles from the house I grew up in. |

Nice gun, Mark! Don't think I've seen a setter portrayed with such detail on a gun before, what grade is it? |

Thanks! That's a special order ungraded gun. No grade on the water table, no cocking indicators, ejectors, and line engraving typical of a G grade, and a serrated wood butt. It's basically a stripped down, one of a kind, light weight GE. The plain side plates were kind of boring though, so I rubbed out the case color and painted my setter on the left and pheasants on the right in sepia tones so it looks like engraving. Finished with a few coats of spray finish. Very durable. Working man's E grade! |

Thanks. It's one of those [rare] guns that you just need to point in the general direction of the bird and it seems to fall. I think I went 12 for 12 on pheasants at one point with it. Wish they were all like that! |
