Mike,

I understand exactly your point about seeing the parents hunt, especially Grouse. I have discovered that some of what I want to see in my Ryman Grouse dogs can be determined by the pedigree, I look for certain parts of George Ryman's family blood line to determine what is most times passed down genetically.

George had 5 different subfamilies in his over all Ryman Grouse dog line, certain parts of that breed line must be present if you want an aggressive Grouse dog. I then make the final decision on the pups I purchase, when the female having the pups, is proven a seriously talented Grouse dog in the woods.

I agree with you 100%. October has some fine Ryman stock also, have trained more than a few of their dogs that hunters have purchased, down thru the years. Awhile back there were lots of October Setters right here in Pa. Fine Grouse dogs no doubt about it.

Mike,

I just reviewed the thread and the picture of Drummer you took while sitting on your tail gate is just fantastic, simply a beautiful picture of a great Ryman Grouse Dog on point. You might consider having that picture framed and placed on a wall.

all the best
