LastDollar,
I'll be needing a follow up on the hunt this season. The food alone sent me to my local cafe for the full steak and eggs treatment along with biscuits, and followed by pie and sweet coffe... didnt get much accomplished...but I did eat well. |

The day started off well, with a great breakfast. We left Church at about 7:40 (2 of us) and had 3roosters by 8:35. We then ,both of us, joined the "protect the Pheasant" club for a while...Didn't hunt long, as my Minder had other commitments. I was home about 11:00. Boots off, fresh coffee in hand, five Roosters bagged. GRAND day!..BUT BUT I looked out the window, saw smoke and things turned sour. Within an hour We were pretty much surrounded by a prairie fire which soon presented a front over 30 MILES wide and growing. No real danger to our town, different in the country....Firefighters from 4 counties and State guys were still fighting it when I turned in. Governor has declared a disaster...Big loss in crops, habitat and wildlife....No one hurt ,Thank the Lord..Still dark....Sheriff says under control..... |
