Hi all.
I found this load on a previous post here. Can I substitute Chedite Hull for the Federal?
1 1/8 oz
Hodgdon 800-X Win. 209 Rem. SP16 22.5 10,800 PSI 1,300
Thanks. |

I have a very similar load using a CCI 209, 23.0 grains of 800-X. 1 1/8 oz. of lead and the SP-16 wad in a Federal hull.
1,270 FPS @ 9,800 PSI
I also have two identical loads one using a Federal hull the other a Cheddite and the ballistics are very similar, with the Cheddite having a slightly lower PSI.
When you get a chance I would send 6 loads to Tom Armbrust or Precision Reloading for verification.
DO NOT use anything but a Remington 209 PSTS or CCI 209 primer. A change to a Cheddite 209, Winchester 209, CCI 209M or a Federal 209A will require that you drop the powder drop anywhere from 2 to 4 grains of powder and it will reduce the velocity. |
