SxS Locked Up

Hunting pheasants I had to reload and closed the breech and everything locked up tight. Then I couldn’t open the gun. The lever won’t budge. Anybody have this problem?

So it’s with a friend who can drive it back to NJ
And get it to Griffin & Howe. Thats going to be pricy but the gun is worth it.

Bad part is it has 2 live rounds in the chamber!

Try shooting the live rounds to see if the gun will open then. It would be hard to ship a loaded gun anywhere.. Rolling Eyes

Doing anything with a loaded gun with a mechanical issue is NUTS..Shoot the 2 load out of it FIRST! NOT IN THE KITCHEN

I had this happen to me this summer with my Winchester 23 shooting sporting clays half way through the course. Thankfully it was AFTER the shots were fired. Would not open, period. Wasn't going to happen and could not get the action out of the stock to look at it.

Ended up taking it to Alhmas and they repaired it. Don't recall everything on the work order but a retaining pin had sheared and moved to lock the action. Also replaced a sear not sure which came first the cart or the horse. In my situation total cost was ~$100. But of course that wasn't with G&H.

Thanks CI! My friend will drive it over to G&H. Can't shoot the rounds in it. Everything is LOCKED UP! Can't take it off safety. From checking on the internet it seems to be a firing pin issue.

..'Try squirting WD 40 under the lever so it runs down into the mechanism?

Give it a couple good raps across the barrel/receiver joint area with a heavy rubber mallet or 2x4?

Good Luck!
