Anyone know where I can get an existing butt plate duplicated? It’s a browning A5 16 gauge. First year production. I believe it’s made out of rubber, but plastic would also work. Thanks in advance for any help |

If I'm not wrong I think the early A-5 buttplates were made of buffalo horn.
I could be wrong.

Thanks guys. You all are bad ass. Skeettx your link was the right one. I’ve been searching high and low for one of these with no luck. It’s on the way from eBay. |

Since you guys are so good. I might as well try it again. I just got my 2 9/16 chamber 16 barrel to find out that the ejector moves. Anyone ever replaced one of these? It should not move, so either someone converted it or browning made more changes that I was not aware of. This barrel is pretty old cause the barrel lug is on a ramp and seems to fit better then the other three that I had. |

Sounds like your gun has been converted to 2-3/4". |

Yes I agree. So should be a simple change of the ejector. The barrel lug is a little wider then the original barrel, however, don’t think that’s gonna cause any issues. |

Remember you CAN shoot short shells in a 2 3/4 " chamber
I do it quite often with an A-5, Model 12 Win, and others

I was just wondering if it’s gonna cause issues with cycling. The complete gun is 2 9/16. I have original barrel for it. This barrel was just a spare that I wanted to put chokes in. I guess it should still cycle 2 1/2 shells with the movable ejector. |

The problem is that the shorter shells are often lower velocity also which can cause the gun not to cycle properly. I've never owned an A5 but the Savage 775 is one of the many guns built on that Browning design, and I've had trouble with the gun not cycling if the load is too light. Adjusting the washer can make a difference; here's a link that explains that:
https://www.chuckhawks.com/browning_A-5_running.htm
I note that RST is marketing 16ga loads specifically for A5's; I've never used them so I can't comment on their effectiveness. Might just be marketing hype ! |

If you load your own shells try the Hartin crimp. You can use a normal 2-3/4 recipe and they will cycle and eject just fine. |
