trashed as of last night. just crumbling loading into the hull.

Was trying to load WIN [GL] 20ga hulls, with theribbed OD.

Was able topull apart and recover shot and powder.

Will reload with WAA20 wads and 7/8's of #5 shot.

How many reloads for the "GL" hulls. two perhaps??

Thanks.

Your post reminded me that I have a couple bags of those in the garage. Would only guess them to be 15-20 yrs old. Pulled one out of a bag and rolled it around with my fingers hard as I could. No effect. Threw it on the floor and stepped on it hard,no damage. I was given some RXP20's last year that crumbled when I tried to load them. No idea how old they were.

+20 what Skeet said ... problem is when given stuff , you don't know where its been . My old Herters stash has always been boxed , but is soft to start with . Just can't seem to give up old stuff easily !!!

I have had a similar experience with WAA20 wads. I bought them at an auction, so I have no info on age/storage conditions, but I suspect they were stored in full sun. However, being the "Numba 1 Cheap Charlie" that I am, I cut the powder cups off of them and used them to substitute for Alcan PGS wads. The plastic is thicker and none have disintegrated while loading or firing them.

I read on here that most folks get very few reloads out of RGL's but a guess would be mine average 8-12 reloads before getting trimmed down for roll crimped hunting shells. Not sure what I'm doing any different to have them last longer than most. run of mill W209, Herco or Longshot, SP16, 1oz #7.5, 6 fold, recycling the lions share of the same batch of ~300 hulls 2-3 years now for winter trap league and practice salt in once fired when needed but not often.

Had similar experience with some SP10 wads, very brittle from age but I know they were stored in doors, never seeing the light of day but do know the bag was left open. Guessing the plasticizes evaporated/bled-off.
