Anyone have load data for the Remington black hulls cut down to 2 1/2? Some people say load them like 2 3/4? Any help would be appreciated. [/i] |

I have had good luck loading RP hulls cut to 21/2" using a normal load with SG16 wads and roll crimping them. These hulls roll crimp well and I don't have the hassle of adjusting my MEC loader all the time. The Rem hulls are not a full 23/4 anyway so cutting a little off and roll crimping them works fine for me. |

Ok sounds good. Thank you. Just wanted to see if anyone was doing this, before I experimented with it. Haven’t figured why there is no tested load data on these being cut to 2 1/2 yet. All I seen was fiocchi cut down. Thanks again |

If you are just cutting them down to roll crimp, there is no reason to change the data from what you are using for a fold crimp. The ballistics are very comparable.
Not a guess, I have done the work to be sure that is true. |

Why cut them at all. Most are around 2 5/8 inch (67 mm) already. If you have 2 9/16 inch chambers (US 16 ga. guns), or 65mm chambers (typical older Continental 16 ga. guns), your good to go as is. Even if your chambers are actually 2 1/2 (some old British 16's), with zero forcing cones, you might want to trim, but you don't need to take off 1/4 inch, only an eighth, and those can easily be loaded with just a crimp height adjustment on your loader. |

I agree with maximum smoke. They work fine as is in my elsies but when the crimps wear out I trim them down and roll crimp them. |
