waws perusing thru a 2018 Shooting sportsman mag the other day and one of the articles was West Nile . The article was alerting about how WN may shorten the season in Wisconsin due to bird loss . Will be interesting to see if similar things happen thru out the states , politically or scientifically !! Anybody really notice a difference in Wisconsin !?

It's interesting you mention the 2018 article....I personally observed FAR less birds in northern Michigan that season. I would venture to say the lowest ammount of birds I've seen in 30 years. I had never even considered WN as a factor.

Very interesting indeed!

My biggest concern, if this really did start in bats, is that we lose another species here.
Our little brown bats have been decimated by a fungus. I have not seen one in about two years. They nested on my home since I have been here, 27 years. Now in the summer I only see one of two of a larger species flying around above my deck at night.

daughter in law has a good group of bats in/behind the fireplace chimney . Scares the crap out of her - would get rid of them in a NY minute . kinda like em myself ..... So far , no indication this cV affects any critters . Would be BAD if it bothered dogs , cats , deer etc !!

As a carpenter who regularly runs into bats in attics, eaves, chimneys etc... you need to get rid of them..

They carry nasty disease and they absolutely cover everything in waste product...I've seen exceptionally disgusting consequences of bats.

I ty think they are cool...but they are rodents.

Anyhoo...hopefully this wont hurt animals.

wow , has this gone off the rails !! However .... getting gun jobs done , ie , 2nd cleaning on those BP guns that always need it ... get the 16ga target loads caught up , as about 1/2 the clubs here have fully closed . Leagues shut down ... 28ga 3'' cut to 27/8 - Hodgdons data fits loosely - could go to 11/8 if wanted . Lil Gun powder loads NOT a problem for recoil ... getting used to wifey again as her bus rt is down . Deer roasts done right as opposed to those quick meals when she's working . Staying amicable !! Dog is right underfoot ! Always ! Yard work getting done ! Pop into the store once or twice a week for entertainment value - little town people going bonkers ! Keeping space , washing up , but needing to smell powder smoke !!

There are fly rods waiting, Hendricksons and Quill Gordons and Blue Quills to meet and match.
For those with yards, the 6 inches of snow we got here last night will soon be gone for us, and surely for you, and that means muddy dogs and yards to clean.

Me? I'll be on the road all next month because I'll have no apartment. Everything is in storage. So it goes.

This completely messed up our plans to move to either SD or MT.

We had a trip planned for this week to look at some properties and some areas that we have interest in.

Got the house in CT pretty much ready to sell......just waiting for this to blow over.

Right now, I am cleaning up a few extra projects and tying gold ribbed hare's ear and stone fly nymphs.

If I can't move I am going fly fishing just like Dave In Maine.

Second Target after scope adjustment

Today
Amarillo Gun Club is officially closed for Social shooting
BUT if you had/have signed up for key control you
can go out by yourself or with other key control members
unlock the gate, then lock the gate behind you and use
the automatic fields

Shot a Citori 16 at skeet,
Belguim Leige a Fue in 16 at skeet
and a Belguim SXS Geco in 16 gauge 2 1/2" at trap
What fun!

Mike

My son is a Marine. Next year he will retire with 20 years, a purple heart and a Bronze Star. To say I am proud of him is an understatement.
