Hello all

The set of 16 gauge barrels for one of my Remington 3200 was mostly
completed today Smile ( all that is left is installing the front white bead sight that I do not reference in shooting, just for looks!!

Monday morning I plan to head to the skeet range with lots of 16 gauge ammo and shoot skeet and crazy with it.

It is NOT a light gun, but it is what I wanted for round after round of skeet and crazy.

I had already shot four rounds of skeet with it before we made 16 gauge ejectors, so I assuming no issues.

Will report after shooting

Mike

How were these made? Sleeved 12 gauge barrels? Brand new barrels on Model 3200 barrel block? Interesting conversion. Now to find a 5 barrel skeet set case.

The barrels were original factory un-bored , un-choked, and short chambered barrels

Fitted a barrel hanger.

Fitted the over size monobloc to the action

Then chambered the barrels for 3" 12 gauge and used Lothar Walther chamber adapters which were cut for ejector slots.

Then using old 12 gauge ejectors, welded them up and filed and milled them to fit both the barrels and the hulls.

Anyone wanting to try, here is a start Smile

The ole 3200 was a wonderful workhorse , their is one floating around out there that has a standard barrel on top and a .780 big bore barrel on bottom .

That was a trip to build .

We all shot the 3200 well on trap , it was a great platform .

One of a kind Mike , great Skeet or Trap platform.

Regards Nick

Excellent plan Mike. We're envious because unfortunately all the ranges up here are closed per Governor's orders. Our club was recently notified we had a member test positive with other members potentially exposed, so it is totally buttoned down now and the health authorities are involved.

The DNR closed all its state properties, wildlife areas, and access points other than lumber operations. The state is actively closing down all clubs, recreation areas, and other outdoor activities, public and private, where people might gather.

So the rest of us up here are consigned to reloading and servicing our guns at home.

Maybe folks could suggest other related activities that could be pursued at home for those of us under lockdown. Basement airgun practice?

Enjoy shooting your 3200 while you can.

Cheers
B.

Our club is also "Closed" except for Key Trained Members.

We can unlock the gate, go in and relock the gate, log in, turn on the machines, use of clays card to load birds on the counters and shoot.

The trap houses are voice release, the skeet houses are programmable for a delay.

Once finished shooting, close it down, log out, unlock the gate, exit, lock the gate.

I normally shoot by myself and that is social distancing.

Porta Potty on site just incase.

Mike

the 3200 are a love / hate gun around here . Most guys have gone to Kolars and the Rems left behind . I assume you love yours !? If it has the upgrades , you should be able to blast for ever without a hiccup !! You need to partner up a shoot with Nicks Browning 2 shot 16ga , that would be a hoot !!

quite a while back it got done . I know it showed up at one of the group get togethers back then . There was a post in the thread with the picture etc , but haven't looked for it for a while to see if the pics are still there . Never really inquired about bringing it out west . (browning double auto in 16ga - would be quite a nice shooter ! interesting to see if it would cycle out his fast/lite loads).... most of our GC's are closed , winter leagues ended . Our Newark club has the clubhouse closed , but we can still open the fields and shoot .

Thank you for asking

Monday, went to the rifle/pistol range instead, was fun.

Today, went to the skeet range, shot one round of skeet and one round of
crazy wiith the 3200, no major issues. I have not decided what to do with the chokes yet, so the gun is full and full.

May have Mike Orlen do screw ins or Skeets just choke it out to .002 and .004

All in all t'was a GREAT MORNING

Mike

p.s. how are you doing across the ocean? Still working? Sheltered in place?

We are sheltered in place except for medical, groceries, and exercise.

UPDATE

Today I reamed the chokes to 17 mm.

Being unbored 12 gauge barrels, they are a WEE bit overbored for 16 gauge.

So the .669+ chokes should do great for skeet and pigeons.

Can not wait till Tuesday to take it to the skeet range.

Still have not put on a front sight, but never miss it while shooting.

Mike
