I've been restoring a 1906 12 A5, it's a mate to my 1923 16 A5. Only 4 oz
difference.

I'm still building up the finish but I took two geese this morning with the '06 in celebration of 100 years age!

These two old guns are way too much fun...

Very nice, Jeff! Those two are senior citizens. Nice wood, especially on the 06!

My last two pheasants were taken with a 45 year old A5 Twenty and a 73 year old 16 ga. Rem 11 (humper).

Dave,

I've been surprised to find some exceptional wood on old grade 1 A5's. Here is another pic, this time with the '06 gun and a pistol grip gun from 1928. Unfortunately this is the less pretty side of the '28 gun. I think that the 06 is English and the '28 is French walnut. Someone who knows more about wood should chime in.

The first pic with the two straight grip guns: I agree the top is likely English and the bottom likely French walnut. Beautiful guns Jeff! And great looking dog Very Happy

The dog is Luke, TWD. TWD= The Wonder Dog

I've owned several good labs, but he's the smartest dog I've ever seen. when I show him something I want him to do he learns it the first time. It's weird, he really understands people, it's not about reward or punishment. He is an equal partner in all things. And he's not afraid to show ihis displeasure. He barks at me when I miss a duck.

Apparently Luke takes a mean photo too - you should smile when you're holding a 100 year old gun and a goose it killed!

Great stuff Jeff - thanks for sharing

Dad decided to order a synthetic stock for his - this instantly frees up the wood for the spring Wink
