Lloyd3,

Very interesting, what gun shop location did you see all the L.C. Smith guns in? Mid South Guns? Located where?

Hello Dave:

Wagram, NC's MidSouth Guns. Most LCs I've ever seen assembled in one place. Lots of Fultons as well. Hammerguns, 10 gauge guns, OO Grade guns, you name it, they had it.

Lloyd3,

Did you happen to notice if they had a L.C. Smith 16 gauge hammer gun for sale?

I don't believe I did, but...the owner mentioned that his better guns had been relocated because of the recent "troubles". Certainly worth a call down there.

Glad to see you made the drive, Lloyd. Wagram competes with Mayberry for being a wide spot on the road in the middle of nowhere. It's still worth the trip.

What you didn't mention is that the Wall o' Elsies in the picture is only part of the picture. The gun racks like that are two high on the wall and you're showing only a small section of one wall. They go all the way around the room.

There was a remarkable selection of 'old school' guns there. Old Colts, leverguns, pumps, even English and European stuff. But really....lots of doubles.

Phil has lots of guns in his shop, lots and lots to drool over. Old, new and in between with prices from bottom to top. If you haven't been to Mid-South in Wagram, NC you've missed a treat.

Seeing as the backyard is a used tire store and then a Shell station, if they buried you there you'd likely feel like you were back in Jersey at the same time. Laughing
There is a barbeque joint across the street....

Coming in to Wagram from the south, i.e., I-74, you pass a historic marker which reads (can't load picture):

"Temperance Hall
Meeting hall of the Richmond Temperance and Literary Society, 1860 to 1890s. Sacked by Sherman's army in 1865. Stands 1 1/2 mi W."

If there was any doubt about being in the South....

It so happens that my wife and I may be driving back to Winston Salem NC at the end of July. My daughter is a traveling nurse and just accepted a job in a WS hospital NICU. She'll be driving back towards the end of July and my wife wants to to drive back with her.....not sure that will happen, but if we do, I'll definitely check out Mid-South guns!

It was a 3-hour drive each way for me (from the wife's family reunion near Littleton) and it could've easily been a boondoggle but...it clearly wasn't. Sadly, it's been along time since I've been in a worthy gunshop (ie. Interesting, educational, & neat!). I'm pretty much past the stage of acquisition but still trying to learn a few things and I certainly did that here. I saw stuff I've not seen in years, which was great fun.

It is a 4 1/2 hour drive for me and worth the effort. Philip has every rack FULL of guns just as Lloyd 3 said. On my last trip, I was wondering around the store looking in amazement when I spot a gun propped up in the corner like a broom. It was a 28 gauge Parker DHE ....So, when you go to the metropolis of Wagram, N.C., you never know what you will find or where you will find it.

fourtrax,

I do wish I lived closer, would love to drop in and peruse the collection! Just picked up a pre 13 00 20 gauge recently myself. You can never own enough L.C. Smith pre 13 guns!
