Well, we finally got the job done. As some of you know I have been looking for a place to live in South Dakota. Saw a place in North Dakota on Zillow and on a whim I loaded up the pickup and drove to North Dakota with my wife and my two GSP's on about 18 hours notice. We both fell in love with the place and ended up finding a nice house with a few acres located in between Minot and Bismarck on a gravel road. Lots of moving parts before we move but I think that all should go reasonably to plan.

Yeeeeehaaaawwwww! What a great 10 day trip it has been.

Decided back in 1993 that some day after I retired I would end up in the midwest. Took me almost a year after I retired to do it but.....just try to wipe the smile off my face!!

I was last through there in 1993 on my way to Alaska. We camped overnight in Carpio. We talked an old retired farmer there about the hunting. He said back in the day he shot 18 deer on one drive in the river bottoms. He said they just kept coming and party hunting was the norm of the day. We came back through in the wee hours of the morning and there were deer everywhere. I can only imagine how good the duck and game bird hunting is around there.

Congratulations Mark, I am real happy for you and the next phase of your life!
North Dakotas gain is Connecticut's loss!

It will be chilly in winter, but likely a very nice place to live. Lots of outdoor opportunities.
Congrats.

FWIW the Dakotas fall outside the definition of the mid-west.

Wonderful place and great hardy folks up there. It’s a different culture as well. They call lunch “dinner” and dinner “supper”. Great big tables full of food in both cases. And the breakfasts! No worries though, you’ll burn it all off as soon as those chill October winds blow in from the north.

Enjoy!

B.

Enjoy the new digs and hunting opportunities. I have a buddy whose son is a Prof at a college in ND and they have great success hunting sharptails and pheasant every fall.

Good Hunting,
Mike

Sounds like something many of us would like to do but hesitate only to regret not doing it. Congratulations to you.
