That sweet swinging soft shooting 16 ga A5 with its 25” open cyl barrel is without a doubt the most fun skeet gun in the house. But it jams with certain reloads, very frustrating especially with the rest of the squad waiting...watching...tapping their feet...saying nothing...while i extricate the offending shell.
But I think I solved the problem. It’s not the gun. It’s my reloads.
I use the Supersizer, so the brass is fine. But the plastic hull is problematic. New or once fired shells drop right in and rattle around the chamber and cycle fine. But after thrice, or four, or six reloads, there’s trouble...the plastic swells and sticks in the chamber. They refuse to feed, or chamber, or extract, or eject, or whatever. They jam.
What to do? With the Supersizer, it’s easy, Fit a paper cylinder made from thin card stock into the supersizer. Drop the finished cartridge into the Supersizer, head first, so the crimp and wad cup are inside the paper cylinder. Slam the lever down and voila, it’s done. Takes 2 seconds. The plastic section of the finished shell is narrower than before and falls into the chamber like a new shell.
We’ll see how this pans out over the next few weeks.

OK---Can't say I agree w/your problem/solution.Would limit number of reloads OR adjust loader to fix problem. |

I have 2 versions of 12ga RST's . Blue 1oz , orange 3/4 . The blue are a little more stretched at the mouth end , and the orange are not . The blue are a little sticky , the orange are not . Used to run into the same thing with Fios when I had mixed 1oz and 11/8 . The plastic does stretch and begin being problematic . The reloading machine can fix the head sizing to some extent , but not the plastic . I believe you are on to the way to fixing the troubles with 3 piece cases and extending their life . |

Fios are very troublesome. The plastic hulls are sticking in the chamber so that the A5 is pulling the metal base off the plastic hull during ejection.
