Got my J. Saive fake side lock back today. I had seen them on this and other gun talk sites over the years, and found this one last year. I though it was pretty unique being a 16ga pigeon gun with original 2 3/4 inch chambers from the early 30s. looks good and is a strong Boxlock. You can spot these by the location of the lock plate screw. I do like the odd guns.

I think I am done, finally put together enough 16s for everything.

Thanks.
The drilling was my first ( grandfather ruined me with it at 7yrs old), horse traded for the others over the last 2 decades.

Screws look correct for a side lock to me. That one would have fooled me, but not to hard to do.

I have J. Saive O/U 16 gauge I had for sale for a while. They’re great guns. Mine is very light.

I've got several saideplated guns, but never would have suspected that those guns were not sidelocks. They look to be fairly high end guns, but I have to ask myself is that an attempt to deceive, or some obscure attempt to provide a certain "look" that customers are willing to pay for?

Were the trigger and safety of that bottom lightweight A-5 re-plated? That gun looks to be in great condition overall.

The 1949 sweet was restored by Art Issaccson as well as the 1926 type 1 grade 2.
I sold many browning barrels to finance my collection and restorations. I kept 3 barrels for each 1926 is 2 1/2” chamber.

All the sideplated boxlocks I've seen have not had an arrangement of pins like on your gun. On the other hand, sidelocks have pin arrangements like your gun.
So, show us the bottom of your gun's action - is there a floorplate screw (dead giveaway for a boxlock) or not?

See: http://www.dogsanddoubles.com/2011/09/sidelock-or-boxlock-see-if-you-can-tell/
