I have a 28" 16 525. Was going to buy the usual brown, Browning case when I saw an Encino, and then many, many others. Any suggestions? No flying, just back and forth to the fields and range.

Going just from the house to the skeet/trap range and hunting
I use a soft case and the gun assembled.
But that is 50 miles max for most of my stuff and a LARGE percentage only 10 miles.

Browning hard case is what I like and am used to.

I have a 12 ga 525 that I had Kolar put fitted tubes in. They had an option for an Americase that I opted for. If you are going for protection, there is none better. A side benefit is it can substitute for your weight lifting regimen, it is HEAVY.

Agree with Skeettx- have several browning cases and they work great.

I’ve toyed with the purchase of one of these cases for quite a while.

Anyone here have any experience with them?

I've got them in leather and canvas and have found them to be entirely satisfactory. I like the Jeff's leather case better than a CSMC leather case I have,

I have both CSMC and Jeff’s leather and canvas cases. And I like the Jeffs version better than the CSMC version in both the leather and canvas versions.

Jeff's has quite the selection. I do fine with soft take-down cases. They pack easily on hunting trips, and I go to a full length slip when I get there.

I bought the Browning Green Canvas and Leather Hard Case for my 16 Gauge 525 Sporting because it matches the gun and is classic. I only use it for storage and back and forth to the range. If I wanted to take it on an airline flight, I would want a Americase, Nasco case, Pelican or something like that, which will take more abuse. I like Negrini cases, but they don't look good if they get ruff handling.

I saw the results of a Negrini case that British Airways dropped to the tarmac - a section of plastic about 2" wide and 12" long broke out. Luckily the guns weren't damaged but it was pure luck. I'd never entrust my guns to a baggage gorilla in a Negrini case.

I'm flying to South Dakota next week and my 2 Beretta 687's will be in a welded aluminum ICC case, which isn't as pretty but I am confident is far more protective than a Negrini case. The protection of Pelikan and Nanuk (a Canadian made equivalent of Pelikan) are also far superior to Negrini.

My wife and I use full length soft cases for our day trips to shoot or hunt. When we make overnight trips we usually use Boyt canvas break-down cases because they are easier to take into hotels on the luggage carts. I have a CSMC leather two gun motor case and my wife has one Jeff's canvas and leather hard case and one Jeff's leather hard case that we use for "fancy" trips or when we take more guns than we have soft break-down cases.

Gentlemen,

I have a nice Browning 2 Barrel set hard case, however I like the antique hard cases made for my L.C. Smith double guns, from the era of those guns. I usually have them restored and then somebody sees them and wants to purchase them. I end up selling them to support my gun purchasing habit.

I have different size soft cases to transport my guns to where I hunt here in our mountains or drive up to New England or out to the UP. Seldom get on an airplane any more. Currently looking for an antique hard case to restore, for one of my #5 L.C. Smith guns. Want an early 1900's L.C. Smith hard case to carry and display my #5 gun.

Kens nicely restored antique gun case, for one of his Fox guns.

The Browning case for the modern 2 barrels set O/U.

SKB cases get good reviews as well, including airline use. They are very sturdy but not much for looks or charm.
