What is the range of pricing for a 1950s model 870 Wingsmaster 16 gauge? I have not seen it yet. I was told the owner is asking $250.00. I have owned a new model 870 wingsmaster 16 gauge and did not care for it. I have heard the older models are lighter and true to size, barrel to receiver. I know condition is a big factor. What should I look for on this 16 gauge if I can see it in person? Any help would be beneficial. I love this forum. Thanks for all of the great info.

gw,

I bought a 50's era 16ga 870 from a private seller at a gun show last year for $275.

Plain barrel, imp cyl choke. I had the stock lengthened and never looked back. Great gun for ducks over decoys with bismuth or doves at moderate ranges.

It is about 80% with bluing wear in the usual places.

I would go with it. At $250 you should be able to get your money back easily.

Regards,
Chuck

My girlfriend’s father just gave her his, as he’s not able to hunt anymore, it’s a ‘63 with full choke. I watched a ‘65 on GB with mod choke in almost new condition sell for over $800 a couple of weeks ago. Depends a lot on condition.
