Max Smoke,
Dewey V makes some good points, however as an engineer looking at longevity and usage of the guns, most all these American and Euro guns were built with the Hodges breeches, or an altered version of that engineering. In reality the Brown Rotary Bolt and the LeFever design engineering that allows a gun to be both and ejector and an extractor gun simply by moving a switch, are both original American engineering.
Very hard to say this is not great American gun design engineering. Further the Fox Rotary Bolt is an altered engineering piece, the L.C. Smith original Brown Rotary bolt never fails and does not have the problems of the altered engineering on the Box Lock Fox gun. Dewey V's points are only good on the Box Lock altered engineering, not the original Side Lock L.C. Smith double gun.
