Seen where Tristar now had its G2 Viper in 16 ga. Had a 28 ga & it was a nice gun & no issues with it at all. For someone looking for a new semi 16 ga ,it is definitely worth checking out.

Looks like they built it on the 12 gauge frame. It’s at 6 lbs 8 oz’s. Why do companies do this? It should have been built on its own frame. It would be closer to or at 6lbs. I’ve been eyeing up the 28 gauge for a while now.

I've got a Bronze G2 in 20 gauge. Have about 500 rounds through it. Like it a lot.

That said, the trigger is horrible, 7#. Supposedly the mcarbo spring for the Mossberg version will bring that down. For me, it did nothing. Theres a shop some have used, $75 or so and brings the trigger down to where it should be.

Loaned it to my niece for pheasants this year. Shooting clays in the backyard my bro in law said it wasn't cycyling the cheap walmart promotional loads. Took it apart and found the recoil spring broken. Tri-Star had a new one in his hands in 2 days. Good service, but makes me question longevity.

I bought it as an experiment of sorts, Buds Gunshop offered a $29 lifetime warranty. If it ever breaks and can't be fixed, they'll apply the purchase price to anything that they sell.

Why does it have a 3" chamber?

he he he
Just think of it as a long forcing cone for non-tox ammo

and MAYBE some day there will be real 3" ammo just like in the 28 gauge.

I assume the question regarding receiver size was rhetorical. If not, they did it for the same reason 16ga Remington 1100 and 870 and the 1400 and 1200 Winchesters were all on the 12ga receiver. There just wasn't enough interest in the 16ga to pay for the engineering and retooling to down size the receiver. Evidently Browning though there was and thus we have the New A5.

I have a G2 Silver in 28ga. I may have got lucky as the trigger breaks well below the weight of the gun. Shot low for me but by using the shims I brought up the comb and the problem was solved. It shoots anything I feed it to include the most gosh awful reloads.

If the lower end 16ga gun actually comes in at 6.5 lbs it isn't bad and if it sell at or below the MSRP of $700.00, it sounds like an interesting gun.

Just checked on line. A fellow has 4 of them with a fixed price of $599.99. For that price I'd look if I didn't already own 2 16ga autos.

I guess maybe we should just be happy that another manufacturer is willing to do a new 16. We need the attention Wink Hopefully it brings new 16 ga shooters into the fold that cant afford a 1500.00 Sweet 16. The 28ga version gets generally good reviews over on the 28 ga site.

If the economy doesn’t crash they will sell a buttload of them.

Crude analogy, but you watch...... Wink

.410’s got hot a few years ago because they’re were a bunch of guys born in the ‘50’s and ‘60’s who remembered the .410 that grampa had and now they were getting of an age to have discretionary cash to try to recreate that feeling from their childhood.

Tristar saw the same with the 16.

I know many are drooling for an A5 in 20 gauge but I’d love to see one in 28 gauge.

Not a fan of the 28 gauge but if Browning built a A5 on a true 28 frame, that would be one very light shotgun.

Never been a fan of Benellis but I do own a 28 ga. Ulltralight than is a gorgeous gun easy to carry and fast handling. Even shot some ducks with it with Bismuth.
