No, Kwick-Sert is a shot protector sleeve that is die-cut from a sheet of polyethylene probably about .010" thick. It is shaped like a square attached to a circle which has another square attached diametrally opposite the other square. What's "Kwick" about it is you place the circular center in your wad guide and when the wad ram pushes it into the shell, the squares go along for the ride and wind up against the hull interior, making a sort of two-piece protective sleeve for the shot.

I have been fortunate enough to have found Kwik-sert wads over the years and recently, a box of Fed. 16SC1 cups. Here's something you might try if you want a plastic shot cup for your fibre wad loads. I bought a case of second-hand Herter's wads. Unfortunately, the gas seals were not always filled out when molded. Being a "No.1 Cheap Charlie", I cut the shot cups off the cushion section and have substituted them for Federal shot cups. I also got a bag of old 20 ga. AA wads that had apparently been stored in a hot environment. The cushion sections would break off while being seated. However, for some reason, neither the shot cups or the over powder cups seem to have been affected. So I have also substituted them in loads calling for Fed. shot cups. I have done this to some extent with the 16 ga., but won't need to do that now that I have the real thing. I could be wrong, but I don't see that the type of shot cup is going to make a big difference in pressure.

It's not a "wad"; it's a shot protector strip.

RGuill96971 -- It will be amazing, to you I'm sure, to find my post covering the approximate thickness of the Kwik-Sert is actually there for you to read - right in this thread! Just super, right? It's about 7 posts earlier than your own latest post. It also gave a nice description of the shape of the Kwik-Sert, obviating the need for the photo, which you also could have dug up on the internet yourself - and Kwik-ly, too. So, you're welcome. Glad to help. Happy New Year.[/i]

Max smoke: I see said the blind man. I usually click on the do-hicky that takes you to the last post, so didn’t read the entire topic again, so I missed your description. Very nice by the way. Yep very interesting to me, and the wheels are already turning on making some of these.

That's cool, I've never seen inserts like that. Personally I find using a standard rectangle of mylar just fine, That is a slick way of doing it through the wad guide. I wouldn't mess with any laser for those. It would be way easier to make a die to cut them out. They still sell mylar wraps. Precision Reloading has a huge selection of different sizes and thicknesses. Even something as simple as making a stencil that you trace with a razor knife would work. With the right knife, you could probably do 10+ at a time. I'd still think that same time is better spent just sticking a rectangle piece in the shell by hand.
