While working on some dog portrait commissions, I decided to give a gift to a friend of mine whose ranch I've chukar hunted on for years. Incredible memories, and these are two of his setters, on point on his ranch, who are now passed on. So, I just finished this 9 x 12 oil on panel for him. It's a fairly loose painting, and very painterly, but I like the tension and overall feel of it. This is "Two Setters," 9 x 12 oil on panel:

Thanks. I had fun painting it. I like how the nearest setter's head is barely delineated, yet your mind fills in the blanks. Interesting how that works. |

I can just feel their excitement!
And if you do your part, they will be bringing the
birds back and let you scratch them behind the ear
and tell them how wonderful they are.
SWEET
Mike
p.s. double trigger, 16 gauge side by side, just like the dogs, side by side |

Like a very spur of the moment look t two wonderful dogs. Very impressionistic to me
if my art history serves me correct.
Good job.

Looking at the painting gave me an electric charge just like I get in anticipation of the flush. Nice. |

Oh Wow! there's emotion on the dogs faces without fine detail, you can feel it! That's great work. I have so much admiration for artists, I can't "draw a conclusion". |

Great work, UDF!
That's just plain beautiful. It reminds me of the kind of pictures that used to belong on a calendar for some manufacturer of shotgun shells, or a tin sign, or a magazine cover. |

Appreciate the kind words! Here's a recent 30 x 30 oil painting I decided to hang in my house. It's not a hunting painting, but rather a landscape from the area I hunt, with a hunting dog (my setter) running through it. It's draws me in and makes me want to just start walking and following him. It's aptly titled "Morning Run:"
