So the other day, I saw a Franchi SL 16ga at a local sporting good store, but it wasn’t a SL, it was a SLX. It was marked SL on the receiver, but it was fully engraved with very nice wood, exactly like the SLX. I think it was a factory mistake.
Anyway, the price on the gun was $1499, priced like the SL normally is, although it was clearly a SLX.
I decided to go back for another look last night, and it had been sold. I don’t really want one, or need one, but they are a very well made and lightweight 5-1/2 lbs 16 gauge. If it had still been there I would have bought it, just because...
Has anyone else seen one of these “mistakes” out there? |

It was marked SL on the receiver, but the engraving, wood, and skeletonized top lever was unquestionably SLX.
The SL model is quite plain, except for some engraving on top of the receiver. I’m very familiar with what an SL should look like, because I have one. |

The SLX has the butt ugly extended choke tubes. My SL is nicely engraved. My only complaint is they do not offer the 26" barrel in the US. In the Old Country they do. |

I spoke with someone at Franchi about that. The guy said he would pass it on. Still waiting!

I have never kept a Franchi for a full season. Beautiful guns that reel me in. Never found a keeper. This one is 28” and I like 26” or even a 24”.
This just is not my gun!
Getting ready to list it for sale. |
