It only took 20 years but finally got one. Serial number date 1910-1913.
Sent the thing straight to Arts.

I was going to bid on that. Has it been converted to 2-3/4? Are you willing to tell me where you would have stopped the bidding? I was going to go to $1000 but the silver showing on the barrel extension scared me away. It’s a beautiful gun

Bought it for 720.00 will have gun restored with satin finish new checkering, rust blue with nitre blue trigger, safety pins and screws. Probably.1100.00 more to restore.
I have three other 2 1/2” barrels for this one here. I believe they only altered original barrel and forend was switched or converted. I have extra 2 1/2 forends. Will go nicely with my type 1/grade 2.

Have you had Art do a rust blue for you? I have a 44 or 45 Type 2 that was brought home by a Joe that I’d like to have rust blued.

Yes but he doesn’t like to do a true rust blue on the action, he can do a simulated rust blue on action that can fool most but you have to talk him into and pay for rust blue action. He does slow rust on barrels often.

Here is pic of simulated Slow rust blue action with True slow rust blue trigger guard and barrel. Arts hot blue and rust blue is top notch in my opinion. I have had over a dozen guns blued by well know gun makers and Art is really good at bluing!
Jack Haugh ( actually Mrs Haugh also)was really good a slow rust Blue. I would bet that his son Cole can do a fine Slow rust blue as well.

Art did this 12ga 3 digit special order 1903 for me and I used it to finance my 16ga guns.

Haugh family did this one completely 13 yrs ago. Jack did mechanical and wood finish, Cole did checkering and Mrs Haugh did slow rust.

This is a family gun, I will forever be grateful to the Haughs for their fine work on this one. I had them do a baker 16 and a superpose before I had them do this one.
Jack is gone now but how awesome it was to listen and witness what the man could do. First time I visited him he stuck a Purdey and a Rigby in my hands I got kinda weak in the knees. I couldn’t afford their butt plates.I remember working 20 hours a week moonlighting to pay for his work on my guns, GOOD TIMES!
