Just saying hello. I have been shooting 16ga for over 40 years.
Not much into trap or skeet anymore but hunt waterfowl, dove, and love to hunt crows. My best day so far crow hunting was 71 dead.
Before I found this site I thought I was about the last person on the planet to shoot 16ga.
Anyway looks like a good bunch of guys here. |

Nope, and you're probably not the first one either. I've got 40 years with the 16ga, too. I'm sure there are gents here with much more time than either of us.
Welcome to our society. |

Welcome! I used to hunt crows on my uncle's farm near Yorkville, when I was a kid. Loved to hunt them down along the Fox river, on his property. My score was never as good as yours, as the crows often won! |

I have about 45 yrs with the 16. I'm just starting to hunt Crows. Haven't done much good yet but still trying. There don't seem to be many around here and my calling techniques need a little tuning up. Still trying though. |

Thanks for the welcome guys.
Birddog I am about 100 miles south of the quad cities.
Scolari all you need is 6 to 12 decoys the downed birds become decoys.
At least 3 or more calls.I like quaker boy,olt and haydel calls. If the crows are in a fighting/molesting mood a owl decoy will help.
Look for a roost area and set up at least 300 yrds away. Any closer and you will force them out of the area.
I use onsite cover for a blind but nothing that looks out of place.Wear good camo face netting, gloves keep your head down when calling and dont move.
I could go on and on talking crow killing if anyone would like some tips let me know. The best hunting is coming up january and feb. |
