I attended the annual Nimrod Classic held at Gallatin Sporting Clays near Three Forks, MT this weekend. Sponsored by Hill Rod & Gun Co. It's a fantastic venue to shoot clays. Splendid scenery with testing targets.
It's a vintage shoot so there are SxS and pump gun categories. Lots of Win 97 and Model 12 guns along with Rem 31's. I shoot the SxS events so I saw Purdey, H&H, Lefever, Parkers, Sauer, Cogswell & Harrison, Grant just to mention a few. Guys use both hammer and hammerless guns. It's fun to see the old guns out being enjoyed.
I shot my Francotte 45e 16ga for two events. I got third in the Open but high shooter for guns under 6.5 pounds. I also got second for the Classic with first out of the sub-gauge shooters.
It's always in mid June so if any of you have an interest come out next summer. Great targets and fun.
They give these cool machined aluminum clay target trophies.
Here is my gun with the trophies.

I attended all the early Nimrods when they were at Big Sky Sporting Clays, near Polson, Montana. Always a great time. |

Great shooting Bobby! What part of MT is that? Interesting that they have a sub 6.5lb class. Never heard of that b4. Is there a website for the shoot? |

Good shooting, Bobby! That would be a fun event to attend. I've always felt it takes more skill to post great scores with light guns. |

Nice work - cool trophies.
Looks like something that would be fun to attend, if it weren't most of a continent away. |

Gallatin Clays is a beautiful Montana venue. They always have challenging yet fair targets set. It's a low key "competition" for guys who love their old guns. They don't post scores but do tell the scores of the top three shooters in each class.
Someday I would like to travel to the Southern SXS in North Carolina to see all the guns for sale and shoot their targets. I hear that is quite a time. |
