Fourtrax got me in touch with him maybe a year ago when I was looking to get educated on a Manufrance I was considering. I only talked to him the one time but he was helpful and easy going. Way too young to go. |

I didn’t know Mike but reading what you, his friends, have written I wish I had. Learning this morning both here and on the double gun site of his sudden passing I thought of the words of English minister, John Donne. Though written 400 years ago they remain just as true and sobering.
No man is an island,
Entire of itself,
Every man is a piece of the continent,
A part of the main.
If a clod be washed away by the sea,
Europe is the less.
As well as if a promontory were.
As well as if a manor of thy friend's
Or of thine own were:
Any man's death diminishes me,
Because I am involved in mankind,
And therefore never send to know for whom the bell tolls;
It tolls for thee. |

Sorry to hear about Tiny's early departure -- too early. I only made the last 2 or 3 Flatwaters, but boy, did he ever make great steaks! I wonder if there are steaks and bird hunting in heaven. Most likely there are even better things than we on earth can conceive. Nonetheless, these early departures remind us to enjoy all your friends all you can in your all-too-short time on this little blue marble.
Thanks for the great pictures, Steve. |

Thanks for posting those pics Steve. That was from a trip a few years ago where Mike and I started off in the Sandhills and then headed north and spent a few days with Steve to hunt ruffed grouse in northern Minnesota.
One of those nights we were joined by Cold Iron and the four of us enjoyed a stellar bbq steak dinner. Very good memories. |

I attended Flatwater a couple times as well. Mike was the grill master. He'd have that grill in an inferno, flames 2 feet high 40 steaks going and as others have pointed out
if you asked for a medium rare steak you got a perfect medium rare steak. He was the master. Doing all this wearing welding gloves, a welding helmet , a apron with some wacky print on it and a big buck fix blade knife strapped to his belt.
A very sad loss- I was luck to meet him |
