May have already solved this over on the Doublegun site, but...a friend wants to use his inherited M12 (in 16) for grouse this Fall, but this gun is full choke (circa 1952) . Doesn't want to cut or change anything so an additional barrel or complete forend seems to be the quick answer. Anybody here have or know of such a solution?

Casting my bread upon the water here....

Reload some spreaders with PolyWad insert, 7/8 oz soft shot and pattern to see what you get.

+1 on the polywad loads.
A different barrel would have to be fitted (unless you're really lucky) and I have no idea who's even working on model 12s right now

...I have a 16 gauge plain barrel with a Cutts marked "S",(which I assume means SKEET?) with no extension installed; perfect threads.

It's 27" LOA and barrel is stamped FULL, so Not a Factory Cutts.

Used but in nice shape, would probably bolt on to a used gun and not look added on..
$150.00 + shipping at cost.

Rick

Hi Lloyd,
I was following the thread on the DG Site but I’m not certain what you feel would be an ideal solution.

IMO the complete front end assembly from the same era with a 26” Cylinder choke sounds almost perfect. The photos show everything you probably need including an adjusting sleeve and he would only need to locate a 16/20/28 wooden action slide handle which are normally available from several sources. I think that era gun used the flat-bottom style.

That would give him the versatility to change between barrels in a flash. He would basically have a two barrel set and protect the integrity of his original configuration.
Having an extra complete assembly is also a lot easier than having another barrel fitted to an extension. If he didn’t want to complete the second front end he could always just use the barrel from that assembly on his existing magazine, lock and slide.
Good luck.

Teach me to sleep at the switch...I just saw the Cutts barrel above. I'll contact Rick O via PMs here.

I have a complete M12 in 16 ga. with a poly choke on it. Its gathering dust. I'd sell for a fair price.
