A friend gave me this powder and wondering about data for it. Its in a metal can with a metal screw cap. Its Winchester and says ball powder, Super-Target,WST-8, for target and standard loads. Wondering if someone has something like a old Lymans that might have data for it. |

I'm guessing the WST8 stands for Win Super target 8 pounds. I have some Win brochures for the powder and it may have loads for 16 ga, I'll see if I can find them. |

I found the booklets- as usual, for WST there are piles of data for the 12 ga but none for the 16- at least in editions 11 and 14. |

I did find one load in Lyman shotshell reloading handbook 4th edition. Fiocchi Plastic Cases Fold Crimp, 1 oz lead shot, Win 209 primer Win WAA16 wad 19.0 grains WST for 1248 fps @ 11,400 psi.. there is an * on the load noting "ballistically most uniform load". |

Winchester published a load 1oz 1165fps with waa compression hull that matched their factory load with wst. I have the hand out From 1980-90s somewhere at home and will post pic when I find it. I used that load(nice one) but ran out of those hulls, at least till I shoot the 200 or so I have loaded. |

Couldn't find any. WST is designed for target loads in the 12 ga so is too fast for smaller bores. It could be possible to develop a light load for the 16 or 20 but the pressure profile would be so steep that I suspect there is a very fine line between a load that would be insufficient to push everything out of the barrel and one that runs the pressure over limits. WST is a very good powder for the uses it was designed, unfortunately those uses don't include smaller bores. |

Sorry 16ga compression formed load uses WSF.
12ga load was WST.

That old Winchester powder manua; reminds me of the old days when those components were in common use. I used some of the WSF powder and the WAA16 wads for my sporting clay loads back then |

Related question- How about WSH in 16ga? The caddy has loads for 12 & 20, ought to work in 16... |

I'm not familiar with WSH. The only Win powders with letter designations that I have data for are WSL, WST & WSF, which stand for super Light, Super Target and Super Field. |
