I picked up four boxes of this ammo. I was wondering if anybody knew anything about it? Velocity, pressure, etc. I want to shoot them in my Fox but wasn’t sure if they’re too hot?

Your Fox was designed for 2 5/8 inch cartridges and these 2 1/2 inch cartridges should be fine in your gun, assuming the metal and stock are both in good condition. |

That is older Fiochi.
I cannot tell you the pressure and velocity from those.
I used similar Fiochi and more modern golden pheasant in my 2 9/16 Fox.
If your gun is in good condition (on face - min wall over .026 or better, I believe you would be ok shooting it. |

I cannot tell you the velocity or pressure but they are hunting loads. Most 1 oz. 16 gauge factory hunting loads run from 1165 FPS to 1295 FPS, with the pressures of 9,500 PSI to 11,500 PSI. They are designed to function in any type of action.
These do not appear to be anything special so I would expect the velocity to be 1200 FPS or lower, but without a test........
If you have a chronograph you are all set for the velocity figure.
If the P & V info is a must, send 5 to either Tom Armbrust or Precision Reloading for pressure and velocity testing. Without proper testing no one is going to know the chamber pressure of these loads, as most ammunition factories do not publish that information. |
