Well, the Montana trip fell through. My buddy's brother-in-law died unexpectedly. Next year!
I'm going to pattern the 1 oz. 2.5" Unique loads this week with PR-NP6's and Lawrence Mag 7's. |

Mark, he was my buddy's brother-in-law. I edited my post for better clarity. Sad either way. Thanks. |

Dave sorry your trip fell through. I bird hunted in Montana about 4-5 years ago , we had a great time.
Looking forward to patterning results. |

OK, here's the next bit of reloading mayhem. I shot 6 patterns at 26 yards with the following load. 3 patterns each using nickel-plated 6 and Lawrence Magnum 7's. All were fired from my AyA's .003" choke. (loose skeet)
2.5" Cheddite (factory primed)
1 oz NP 6 & mag 7
18.5 gr. Unique
Z16 (B&P wad)
1190 fps
The first 3 are the above load with Precision Reloading's Nickel-plated 6 shot.

These next 3 below used Lawrence Magnum 7 shot.

I've seen better, but I didn't think they looked too bad. Lots of flyers, but most loads do have them. |

I'll most likely go with the nickel 6's for pheasants.
As a little followup, I'm going to pattern the Mag 7's in my other load that uses the SG16 wad and see how they compare to the Z16 wad patterns above. The loads are close to the same velocity. 1190/1205. |

One never knows how this will go , but the Z wad should keep those rad flyers in a little better than the G wad . The z will cover most of the shot where the G will have barrel scrub some . |
