I have a 16 gauge std weight Browning with safety in front of trigger guard and 2 9/16 inch chamber. 28 inch modified plain barrel. Excellent condition. Serial number is 1265xx. Anyone have an idea on year of manufacture? One source stated they only went to 126175 in 1940. Then when production started back up in 53 they all had an X in front of the serial number
Story is a WWII veteran brought it back after the war. It is in excellent condition and shoots well wit RST 2 1/2 inch ammo. All numbers match on it
Thanks for your assistance in advance
Kelly
So I found a sweet 16 barrel today in an out of the way gun shop in West Virginia. It is a 26 inch IC barrel with matte rib but it is 2 3/4 chamber. WILL IT WORK ON THE Std 16 2 9/16 frame??
Thanks again

1940 as you stated ended with 126175
1941-43 no production
1944-1945 limited to servicemen
1946 started with 128117 |
