The only shotgun I owned for years was my dad's Savage 775a, a 16ga autoloader. When I decided I'd like to have a sxs my buddy and I were wandering through a flea market when he spied one; it turned out to be a 16ga Stevens 5100 in which of course had double triggers. I just started shooting it and never really gave it a thought. Never had any issues that I recall. Of all the others I've had a chance to acquire, none have ever had a single trigger. Not saying I wouldn't have bought them if they had, just never happened. They're all vintage shotguns and double triggers on them just seem right to me, and since they work for me I just never had a desire for a single trigger gun. |

I guess that's where we differ. I'm not into SxS's for tradition or nostalgia. I like them because i feel they are the best tool for the job. I can shoot mine instinctively much moreso than any other action type. Finding a vintage SxS that fits and has a reliable single trigger is pretty tough to nail down short of a M21. Give me a modern SxS any day. Having one with a double and one with a single trigger is a nice combo, and I prefer a selective-single trigger for clays. That said I appreciate and respect the nostalgia folks. |

If I didn't love these old sxs's so much I'd probably be shooting a 12ga Benelli . But I do, so... |
