I haven't used them before, but Cabela's has them in stock and while most ammo on their website is for sale in store only, they are offering shipping on this. I have a case on the way and figured I'd share the info with others.
https://www.cabelas.com/shop/en/herters-pheasant-shotgun-shells
$17/box or $160 for a case with free shipping over $50. Limit of 10 boxes or 1 case. |

Not really the time to be picky but any chance the shells are still purple? |

I'm not certain. There's no info on color in the description and the picture is a generic 12 gauge box. I agree it's no time to be picky, but I do like a purple hull. |

FWIW
I have a box of those 1 1/8 oz. Herters I purchased at Cabelas about 2 years ago. The hulls in that box are black.

Good info. I'd venture to guess they are black. I think I'm going to have to come up with a color coding system for my hulls... |

I don't use steel anyway. Sorry but at that price I wouldn't be interested anyway. |

I bought Fiocchi Golden Pheasant at LGS for less than this and I think they’re probably a better shell. |

The shells were delivered while I was out of town and I just got back. They're black as someone else said. |

The old 16 ga Herters Pheasant loads were purple. I still have over 5 boxes of their 16 ga 1 1/8 oz #5 shot. I couldnt tell any difference from Fiochi Golden Pheasant loads as to killing efficiency, got them for $5.99/box. |

Everything is relative these days.
I have plenty of 16 gauge shells and won't be buying Herters at $17.00 a box but this was the price today at the local Sportsman's warehouse for Remington Express 1 1/8 ounce 6 shot. I almost shat a brick.

Can’t really blame them, considering their legal troubles in NY state. |

Well, the price per box of Express Remington 16s is only a dollar higher than the suggested retail price on the Remington website:
