Mr. Spear's DS choke measurements got me to wondering--they seemed fairly tight per choke designation, rather than loose as was suggested in one post. I measured mine at Skeet = .660, IC = .658, Mod. = .655, and Full = .622 (! - Is that "turkey" choke or what!). So, mine seem somewhat "loose" compared to Mr. Spear's measurements, with the exception of the Full DS choke.

I've probably shot a couple hundred rounds through mine hunting, mostly with 1 oz. lead reloads or 7/8 oz. steel low velocity reloaded quail loads, and a few high velocity 1.125 loads. Through time I had an occasional hiccup with the bolt failing to close on a new round, but eventual disassembly of the receiver showed that to be caused by a glob of packing grease on the shell lifter hinge point. Cleaning and proper oiling has fixed that issue. I had doubts about the gun running the steel low velocity loads as they use slow burning powder at moderate pressure, but they have done fine in the gun.

It's a keeper. Old age and health issues have curtailed my pheasant hunting lately, but the new A5 is the ticket for this species--and it does just great on wild quail also.

4setters, your skeet, IC and MOD are really close in constriction. These DS chokes have some poor quality control, never know what your gonna get.

That's what I came up with the research I did the full choke is super tight the others are all over the place . Briley custom makes the DS but at $125 a piece but I can live with a light mod and imp mod tubes . Pulled the trigger today then the pattern board is next then off to Briley for a couple of good tubes.

Given my recent quarry of mostly wild quail, often in a fence row thicket, I'll gladly take what I ended up with, as open chokes are needed, particularly when shooting steel 6s or 7s at quail on federal land (I shoot that through the DS Skeet tube, which is rated for steel, unlike the Skeet Invector choke in my Citori). Steel patterns tighter than lead.

The Full choke tube constriction is what amazes me, at over .040 constriction. As I remember the Full Invector choke in my Citori is also very tight. I can't imagine what I would use these chokes for, although I do remember using a mod/full combo a few times back in the 90s for pheasants with the Citori. They should be labeled Super Full or something similar in my opinion.

For what it's worth, my old Auto 5 has a modified barrel (and measures .639), but it shoots a full choke pattern. Some of my other doubles listed below measure .642, .640 and .632 in the Full barrel. But .622. Wow. The Auto 5 mentioned above has a tight modified barrel, but several others I have measure .648, .652, .655 and .656 in the modified barrel.

That’s great. Congratulations on the new gun. Mine arrives next week.

Thanks I hope it works out well for both of us . Not a big Benelli type action fan but not much to choose from in a sixteen autoloader .

This is my second season with mine, no problems whatsoever to report.

Before I bought my new Browning Sweet 16 with 26" barrel I had heard the rumors of stock failures and called Browning to get the story, and according to the Browning repair technician I spoke with he has not seen any cracked stocks - so the rumors are just that rumors.

My new Sweet 16 has become my 'go to' gun, nice and light, a delight to carry.

I principally shoot 1-1/4 ounce loads through mine, no problems to report, and I don't notice the recoil.

I particularly like how easy it is to unload.

The new Browning sweet 16 in my opinion is a new classic.
