Let me say up front that I know next to nothing about Elsies ( or doubles in general).

I saw this on a rack in SC. All I know is on the hang tag. It is a single trigger.

I expect that in this beautiful condition, and with the high rib, it has been extensively reworked.

Any other comments from the very scant description and photos?

John: only 2 images are visible.

If by a "high rib" the seller means the Smith Single Sighting Plane Rib, it was available as an option starting about 1939, and later became standard

A 1942 16g Smith should also have 2 3/4" chambers.

16g Smiths are "a joy and wonder" but it is very easy to make mistakes in the purchase thereof. You might save yourself a great deal of $s and trouble by bribing a genuine Smith expert to evaluate the gun with you prior to purchase.

There is LOTS of Smith information on the LCSCA site also

and a Research Letter would document the original specs

Only posted 2 pictures-all the time I had.

Price is also many times my fun money budget, so I will just need to stick to my M12 until my lottery winnings arrive.
