Gun was taken to Woodcock Hill/ formerly Thomas Bland & Sons in Benton PA. The measurements posted were taken by them. Thank you to the member who recommended them. Very good people.
1/15/2022 - I had a serious buyer back out due to some family matters. Gun will be gone over and barrel wall thickness by a competent gunsmith in the next 2 weeks.

UDF: I see you with this gun in the crook of your arm coming up behind a happy English Setter locked up on something feathered. In the near future. |

Great looking gun. Looks like it was Nitro Proofed in the Birmingham House according to the 1954 Rules. 3T per sq inch = 8938 psi service pressure, so the gun was proofed at about 14,000 psi. The gun seems older than that, and does seem to have a mark, the sort of which might have been put on about 1896 - 1904. The gun looks restored, of course, and has probably been re-proofed. If the barrel wall thicknesses are still sufficient, and the bores still measure 0.669" dia. it would be pretty darned nice and usable in this day and age with a bit of care in selecting loads (reloads/handloads).
Somebody please correct my interpretation of the proof marks; I'm fairly new to proof-mark interpretation. http://www.hallowellco.com/british_proof%20marks%20-%20syntax%20by%20date.htm
Cheers! |

Yes the gun is certainly pre 1900. The nitro proof was done in the 1963 per The crossed swords and date code showing the proof date.
Wall thickness is very good. I am happy to allow an inspection period for whoever buys this |
