Darn, I had red 12 ga Acrivs. If the 16s were purple, I’d like to find some. |

I have nearly 1000 16 ga, some NOS, some once fired fold & roll crimp…even some primed. Thought about some non-tox loads but the separation issue has me concerned, so I’m trying to find a good use for them. Thinking some early weather 1 oz loads and/or trap loads. I like 1350 fps, so I tend to be a little picky on recipes. |

Anyone want to sell 100 or so “once fired” Activ 16 ga hulls?
If so, pm me your shipped price.
Thanks |

The separation issue is not unique to Activ. I’ve had hull separations with Cheddites (inc Herters), Rio, Fiocchi, Win, and other straightwall hulls. Their hulls will start to fail after too many reloading, typically 4 or 5. Rems seem to fail at the crimp before the hull separates, as do the old tapered wall hulls.
Yes, some individual hulls seem to last indefinitely, and it’s hard to discard hulls that will still hold a good crimp. But when I see even one hull come out in pieces, the whole lot gets discarded, as it must.

I liked the Activ hulls, still have over a thousand somewhere and some boxes of unfired 20ga too.
It is a good large volume hull. Not as durable as some, 4-6 loadings, sometimes more. Roll crimps nicely. In SXS and O&U guns extraction/ejection is not an issue. Not shooting auto or pump 16ga I can’t speak to that.
I used them for 1 1/4 oz lead waterfowl loads (it was in the 80’s in Alaska).
As they got worn out for that they became good fodder for shorter roll crimped loads. I really liked the the touch, feel, and look of the short roll crimped all plastic hulls.
There is data out there in older loading books and I have a spreadsheet of it I put together. |

FWIW; Active hulls are the best to convert to PINFIRE! The rims are a closer to pinfire diameter. Not predicting many takers on this one! |
