I have been loading 3/4 oz in my 20 and 12 gauge with good results with tighter chokes . Want to try some 16 gauge loads but have not come up with any data . Anyone loading 16ga 3/4 oz. Using Red Dot in 12 and Unique in the 20 have worked well for me. Any thoughts I have BP data but Rolling Eyes Rolling Eyes . Thanks for any replies.

19.5 unique z wad in cheddite hull 3/4oz load. I was skeptical at first but very impressed with 16 yard results. Very nice load for shooting protection also.

Are you using a filler this load came up short for me in a new hull . It worked in a 2 1/2" hull with a roll crimp .

I like this load on paper but the powder and wads are not available up here at this time.

I show that load as a BPI sourced claiming to be around 1290 fps and 9200 psi using a Cheddite primer. Does not reference a filler, but makes sense in the Z wad.

Yes, I put a 1/8" 20ga cork filler on top. Leaves me with a really nice crimp. I have shot these over my chronograph and they are 1250-1290 fps. But a good ol cheerio would work just as well.

I used a .125 card in the wad and a overshot card finished up nicely . Thanks I will give them a go .

For vintage guns, International 16.6 gr, cheddite 209, DR16 in a 2 1/2" cheddite hull is a sweet shooting load. 1200 fps and 6200 psi. Good luck finding the DR16 wads however. Info is straight out of Hogdons reloading data. I load mostly 3/4 in 20 ga also, but have not tried it in 12's, loading 7/8 oz for that.

The DR16 wads have been a unicorn up this way also . The Claybuster 3/4 oz wads work out very well in the 12 they come with lots of good data AA hull works for me .

At these low pressures couldn’t another wad be safely substituted for the DR wads?

I’m using 15.5 grains of green dot for 3/4oz loads in 2 1/2” and 2 3/4”.
I drop the same amount in both the European hulls using the sg-16 wad, as well as the Remington hull with the claybuster loads.

Both of those options Im having to load some filler to them. They both pattern good with the 9’s I typically use in skeet especially the European hulls with the sg wad.

RED Dot is a little fast for 16 ga--Unique is a much better choice
